How to Use the Team Product Feature

The Team Product is a powerful new feature that allows a Team Administrator to purchase and manage a team automatically. This feature streamlines team management and is integrated with the roster management system if allowed by the settings in your organization.

What is a Team Product?

A Team Product is designed for the team administrator to purchase a product that gives them control over their team’s management, including rosters and member assignments. This can be set up to simplify the management of your organization and automate certain tasks, such as creating teams, assigning administrators, and applying products to all team members.

Special Features of a Team Product

1. Automatically Creates a Team: Once the Team Product is purchased, a new team is automatically created in the specified season.

2. Assigns a Team Administrator: The user who purchases the Team Product is automatically assigned as the team’s administrator.

3. Roster Management:

   • If the Team Admins can Manage Rosters setting is enabled in the General Settings, the assigned team administrator will have full control to manage the team roster.
   • This allows the admin to add or remove players and manage team details.

4. Sub-Products for Team Members:

   • You can create sub-products that apply to all team members, including the team administrator.
   • Example Use Cases:
     • If a membership is part of the Team Product, all members of the team (e.g., "Cougars") will automatically be granted the membership.
     • Each player will need to complete custom forms that are linked to any sub-products during registration.
     • If a sub-product includes options, such as receiving a t-shirt, each player can select their preferences (e.g., t-shirt size) during the registration process.

Setting Up a Team Product

To set up a Team Product in the admin area, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Store > Products > Create New Product.
2. Select the Team Product type.
3. Configure the product details, including assigning a season, and add any sub-products (such as memberships or custom items like t-shirts).
4. Save the product. Once purchased, the team will be created automatically, and the administrator will be notified.
