Divisions are important to the structure of your leagues. You can set your divisions up in a number of ways. Let’s talk look at an example league that runs multiple divisions.
Pretend we have a hockey organisation that has Adult Hockey leagues and Junior Hockey Leagues. They also run an annual tournament for called the Super Tournament.
For Adult Hockey they have A Grade, B Grade and C Grade competitions.
For Junior they have Bantam, Midget and Peewee competitions.
In the Super Tournament they have Adult A Grade, Adult B Grade and Adult C Grade plus Bantam, Midget and Peewee divisions.
They run a weekly pickup game on Tuesdays.
They also run weekly Senior and Junior training sessions.
In this example, it would probably make most sense to create 5 Division Groups called Adult Hockey, Junior Hockey, Super Tournament, Pickup Hockey and Training. Then we would place the appropriate divisions into each group. It would look something like this - The Bold Words would be the Division Groups and the Non-Bold words are the Divisions:
|
Division |
Adult |
Junior |
Super |
Pickup |
Training |
|
Divisions |
A Grade |
Bantam |
Adult A Grade Bantam |
Tuesdays |
Senior Junior |
You should:
- Create Your Own structure with a pen and paper. Once you know how your division structure looks on paper we can create the Division Groups and Divisions and put them into the correct groups.
- Think about having a logo for each of your Division Groups and Divisions. Division logos are important because they make it easy for people to identify which league they are in, making it easy to navigate your website and adds a level of branding for your league! Cool Division Logos get people excited to play in your league. XSYTE provides basic division logos you can use free of charge or you can contact us to make you some custom division logos. It’s $10 per logo, but totally worth it!
