Division Groups (Clusters)
Admin > League > Divisions — "Add a New Division Group" button and group cards with divisions inside
Division Groups (also called Clusters) let you organize your divisions into logical collections. They are the top-level organizational structure for your league.
What Are Division Groups?
A Division Group is a container that holds related divisions together. Think of them as folders for your divisions.
Common examples:
- In-House Leagues vs Tournament Divisions
- Recreational vs Competitive
- Different sports or game types
- Different venues or locations
Default Division Group
When you first set up XSYTE, a default Division Group called "In-House Leagues" is created automatically. All new divisions are placed here unless you specify otherwise.
Creating a Division Group
- Navigate to Admin > Division Groups
- Click Add Division Group
- Fill in:
- Long Name: Full display name (up to 75 characters)
- Short Name: Abbreviation (up to 12 characters, used in compact views)
- Description: Optional description
- Logo: Optional branding image
- Display Order: Controls the sort order on your site
- Click Save
Assigning Divisions to Groups
Each division belongs to exactly one Division Group. When creating or editing a division, select the appropriate group from the dropdown.
How They Appear on Your Site
Division Groups organize how visitors browse your leagues. They will see the top-level groups first, then can drill into the divisions and seasons within each group.
Best Practices
- Keep group names clear and intuitive for your members
- Use the short name for a clean abbreviation
- Set display order to put your most popular groups first
- Add logos for a professional, branded look
