XSYTE supports live scoring across 27 sports with real-time updates for spectators. This guide covers how the scoreboard works across different sports and how to use it effectively.
Supported Sports
The scoreboard system works with all XSYTE sports, including:
- Ice/Field Sports: Ice Hockey, Field Hockey, Inline Hockey, Underwater Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Futsal, Water Polo
- Court Sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Badminton, Pickleball, Tennis, Touch Rugby
- Bat and Ball: Baseball, Softball, Cricket
- Precision Sports: Bowling, Chess, Darts
- Judging Sports: Cheerleading, Dance, Gymnastics (any judging-based format)
- Other: Fitness challenges
Starting Live Scoring
- Open the game in the admin area or find it in the schedule
- Click Live Score or Scoreboard
- The scoreboard interface opens with team rosters loaded
- Begin logging events (goals, penalties, stats) as they happen
- All updates push to spectators in real time
What Spectators See
During a live-scored game, spectators on the public game page see:
- Live Score: Team scores updated instantly
- Game Clock: Current time displayed in minutes and seconds
- Current Period: Which period, quarter, inning, or set is active
- Penalties: Active penalties with player jersey number, penalty name, and countdown timer
- Shots on Goal: Running shot count (hockey sports)
- Power Play Status: Highlighted when a team has a man advantage (hockey sports)
Detailed player statistics and game logs become visible after the game is completed.

Hockey Sports (Ice, Field, Inline, Underwater, Lacrosse, Soccer, Futsal, Water Polo)
- Full goalie tracking: shots against, saves, goals against, save percentage
- Goals with primary and secondary assists
- Points calculated automatically (goals + assists)
- Penalty tracking with countdown timers
- Power play status display
Basketball
- Field goals, three-pointers, and free throws tracked separately
- Shooting percentage calculated automatically
- Rebounds split into offensive and defensive
- Points calculated from all shot types
Baseball and Softball
- Full batting stats: hits, singles, doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs
- Pitching stats: innings pitched, strikeouts, earned runs, ERA

Scoreboard Display Modes
- Standard Scoreboard: Full-screen display with all game details, suitable for venue screens
- Video Overlay: Broadcast-ready overlay scaled for streaming, with semi-transparent background, team logos, scores, and clock
- TV Mode: Auto-cycles through games and brackets at a venue, showing each for 10 seconds
Audio Features
The scoreboard supports audio signals that can be triggered during scoring:
- Buzzer: End-of-period signal
- Goal Horn: Team-specific goal celebration sound (teams can set custom goal horns)
Real-Time Technology
XSYTE uses WebSocket technology to push updates instantly. When a scorekeeper logs an event, every connected spectator sees the update within seconds, with no need to refresh the page.
Best Practices
- Verify rosters before the game starts so all players are listed correctly
- Assign a dedicated scorekeeper for important games
- Test the scoreboard before the season by scoring a practice game
- Share the public game link with spectators so they can follow along remotely
