As a Sports Organizer, you now have the ability to delegate roster management to Team Admins. This feature allows for more efficient team organization while maintaining your control over the process. This guide will walk you through the settings and how to use this new feature effectively.
Roster Management Settings
You can choose from three settings to control how Team Admins manage rosters:
- Off: No roster management is possible for Team Admins.
- Always: Team Admins can update rosters at any time, including during the season.
- During Preseason Only: Team Admins can build their roster before the season starts, but the roster locks once the team plays its first game. After this point, only Sports Organizers can make updates.
To adjust these settings:
- Navigate to the Admin panel
- Locate the Roster Management Settings
- Select your preferred option from the dropdown menu
- Save your changes
Designating Team Admins
Before Team Admins can manage rosters, you need to designate them. Here's how:
- Go to the team's roster page
- Find the player you want to make a Team Admin
- Click on the Edit option for that player
- Look for the "Is Team Admin" setting
- Change this setting to "Yes"
- Save the changes
You can designate multiple Team Admins for each team if needed. Remember, only players on the team can be made Team Admins.
Prompting Team Admins to Manage Rosters
Once you've enabled roster management for Team Admins, you can invite them to start managing their team's roster:
- Go to the Admin > Season page
- Click on the Players tab
- Look for the "Prompt Team Admins to Manage Rosters" button
- Select the Team Admins you wish to notify
- Click "Send Invitations" to email the selected Team Admins
Note: Only Team Admins assigned to teams eligible for roster management (based on your settings) will appear in this list.
Monitoring Roster Changes
You can keep track of roster updates in two ways:
- Admin Season Page:
- Navigate to the Admin > Season page
- Click on the Players tab
- Review the roster for each team
- Team Pages:
- Go to the Teams section
- Select a specific team
- Review the roster on the team's page
Remember, even when Team Admins have roster management capabilities, you retain full oversight and can make changes as needed.
Best Practices
- Clearly communicate your roster management policy to all Team Admins
- Regularly review roster changes, especially if you've selected the "Always" setting
- Consider using the "During Preseason Only" setting for leagues where roster stability during the season is important
